GCSE Competition

Earlier this year I was amazed to discover I got a mention on this year's GCSE art exam paper.

I know my work has been used as a resource for painting in schools and colleges for a few years now, one teacher Maggie Evans, teaching GCSE and A level fine art students (14 to 18 years) as Head of Design Faculty at King Edward VII Science & Sports College, Leicestershire, wrote to me saying she uses it because "... your style of work attracts that generation. It's relevant, realistic and it makes a connection to pop art. From a teachers point of view its an interesting source to use in lessons."

So given I was now mentioned on the actual paper, I decided to run a competition for students who may have used my work for their inspiration for their own final pieces, I was sent some beautiful work, and I would show all of them if I could, but here are my 6 favorites.

Beth Sweetman, age 16, Kirk Balk Academy, Barnsley, South Yorkshire.

Eleanor Cousins, age 15, Kirk Balk Academy, Barnsley, South Yorkshire.

Hannah Croft, age 15, Hitchin Girls School, Hitchin, Herts.

Holly Manser, age 15, Chanucy School, Ware, Herts.

Louise Wood, age 15, Aboyne Academy, Aberdeenshire.

Robert Brown, age 16, The City Of Portsmouth Boys School.

Thank you to all the students and teachers who sent images, and I wish you all the best with your exam results.
