Rainbow Popsicle Collaboration

My latest painting ‘Rainbow Popsicle’ came about after discovering the fantastic work of Betsy Enzensberger. As soon as I saw her stunning sculptures I thought I would love to paint one.

Betsy is a Los Angeles-based pop artist who has gained massive recognition in the art world over the last few years. Her Original Melting Pops™ sculptures enjoy extensive digital representation across the internet and social media. The sculptures are also represented by the galleries in the industry and are frequently shown at the most prestigious events around the globe.

The resin looks like candy. It appears delicious and sweet. The shiny exterior has a wet, melting quality. All of which I knew would be fantastic to recreate in paint.

I contacted Betsy, and she loved the idea, so suggested I choose one. Of course I had to go for a rainbow, they have become a strong motif in my work in recent years. They signify joy and hope, and allow me to revel in my obsession with colour. I was also drawn to the translucency of the resin in this sculpture, I knew it would be a challenge to paint, but one that I enjoyed immensely.

Betsy loves the painting I’ve created, I’ll be sending her a print by way of thanks, so I will always have a piece of her art, and she will always have a piece of mine.

Limited editions will be available soon.
