Kaiser Chiefs Album Cover

In 2012, Ricky Wilson, the lead singer of the British band Kaiser Chiefs, asked if I could paint the end of a stick of rock… Ricky had seen my work at an exhibition in Leeds in 2008, and we became friends. The hope being that one day an opportunity would arise where we could work together. In March of 2012 we did just that!

The band had had sticks of rock made for a music video, and I was sent one to use. It had the name of the band and album running through it. The album was titled ‘Souvenir’ and was a singles collection of all their best known hits.

Ever since university when I saw Julien Opie’s portraits album cover for Blur’s ‘Best Of’, I had dreamed of painting a cover for a band. So to have that dream come true was just brilliant. The album was released in June 2012, and is available on iTunes.

Here is a slide show video of the painting being created…

The original was eventually auctioned for a local charity that was very dear to me as my father passed away there, Garden House Hospice in Letchworth, and raised over £10,000 pounds.
